Questions

FAQ

Do you work with our DJ?

Yes. I plug into the DJ’s mixer (one free XLR input, plus an aux input for backing tracks) and play live over their set. I ask whether a sound engineer will be on site.

Do you bring your own sound system?

Yes, through our production partner — or I can use your DJ’s system. We decide on the planning call.

Do you play unaccompanied?

Solo always means sax with backing tracks or a guitarist — never a bare saxophone — so the sound is full.

Can you play our first dance or a specific song?

Yes. Send the songs when you book; I prepare instrumental versions.

How far do you travel?

Anywhere. Within 60 miles of Charlotte is included; beyond that, travel is quoted. I’ve played in 20+ states, including Alaska.

How do we book?

A short contract and a 50% deposit hold the date. The balance is due before the event day.

How early should we book?

Peak Saturdays go 6–12 months out. For 2027 dates, sooner is better.

What do you wear?

Black or a light suit, matched to your event. Tell me your dress code.

How long are the sets?

45-minute sets with 15-minute breaks. Four sets for a four-hour event.

What styles do you play?

Jazz, soul, pop, gospel, R&B and originals. Send a few songs you love and I’ll build around them.

Can you provide a trio or a full band?

Yes — sax, drums, keys/bass as a trio, or a full band with vocals and horns.

Do you provide a W-9 and insurance certificate?

Yes, on request, for corporate and venue requirements.

What do you need at the venue?

For solo: a 6×6 ft space, one 110V outlet within 25 ft, 45 minutes to set up. Trio and band: discussed on the planning call.

Do you teach?

Yes, one-on-one online or in person in Charlotte. See Lessons.
