Live Sax with Your DJ: How It Works

Live saxophone over a DJ set is the easiest way to lift the dance floor. The DJ keeps doing what they do best — reading the room and playing the records — and the sax plays live on top, in the moments where a horn line lifts everyone.
What the DJ needs
One free XLR input on the DJ mixer, plus an aux input if backing tracks are used earlier in the evening. That is all. Before the event I ask whether a sound engineer will be on site, and we confirm the setup on the planning call. If there is no DJ, sound comes through our production partner instead.
How the sets run
Sets are 45 minutes with 15-minute breaks, so a four-hour event has four sets. On a full wedding day that usually means the ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner with backing tracks or a guitarist, then live sax with your DJ once the dance floor opens.
Planning the songs
Send a few songs you love when you book. For the ceremony I prepare instrumental versions of your songs; for the dance sets the DJ and I agree on the moments where the sax comes in.
